what an amazing game! Camas locks up a playoff spot with a big win tonight against Washougal on their home floor. After a heart breaking one-point loss to the hands of the panthers a few weeks back, Camas fought back with a vengence, jumping out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter. However, foul trouble and questionable officiating was like a thorn in the Lady Papermakes' side in the 2nd quarter, when Sara Picard, Falk and Courtney Seavers were forced to the bench due to fould trouble.  At one point, the 'Makers had to rely on the sevices on Prince and Sondren at the same time, which cost them dearly, for at half time, the Panther lead stood at ten. As the 3rd quarter rolled around, Allie Baldus hit two key jumpers to push Camas into the lead. Then key buckets by Sexy Lexi and Courtney bolstered the lead to as much as 15 in the 4th quarter in a game that ended up being an easy put-away for Camas.

After Game Dance: Was awesome, thanks to Bullseye convincing Tom and I to partake in the festivities. Good dancing was had with many lovely ladies, and the situation only got better when Pic and Lex came to join us! And apparently i can dance after all....The notoriously awesome Crystal Weins threw me the comment "Schaf! I didn't know you could dance!" To which i responded "What? I can dance?" then came the kicker from CW: "Yea, you just busted an awesome move!!!"

To this. All I can say is...Tight! or Niiiice. Either one. And Apo needs to talk to the Sam. This is totally uncalled for.

Thursday night, Camas played a huge game against Kelso. Defending the home turf of O.A. Arena proudly, they fought back from a 29-39 deficite at half time to win 57-54. The game didn't go well for Camas in the first half. Poor defense and execution hurt them early on, but they got a boost at the end of the first quarter by Courtney Seavers who hit her only shot of the game at the buzzer. Once again, last second heroics contributed to the win at the end of the second quarter when Allie "Bullseye" Baldus was true to her name by hitting a three pointer at the horn.
In the second half, the 'Makers turned up the defensive intensity to take a three point lead with less than one minute to go. A gift of three missed free throws by Kelso in the closing seconds helped seal the deal as Sara Falk had a monster game, scoring 20 points, and tearing down 10(ish) rebounds. Sara Picard helped out with 14 points and 10 (ish) boards, and Sexy Lexi Bell stepped up big time, scoring 11 points, while on the verge up puking the entire game ;-)
A strong effort indeed. Next game is vs. Mark Morris in Longview on Monday.

Sara Picard vs. The Entire Washougal Team

Well it's actually Washougal vs. Camas, but she's one of three or four players that actually matter

Another heart breaking loss at the hands of an adversary reaping the benefits of home court advantage. Almost a mirror of the Washougal game, but there's one difference: the ladies played way better last night vs. Columbia River. We still lost by one, and we still had the ball in the waning seconds, yet failed to convert. But it was still a very entertaining game, with Sexy Lexi From Philly pouring in upwards of 20 points, and Sara the Captain Picard filling it up for 7 points, and tearing down about 18 rebouds (with a gynormous 6-2 chick gaurding her the whole game!!) Basically, our girls played their hearts out. Lexi only came out of the game once, to ice a knee injury, then she was back. And Pic only went to the bench for a total of about 30 seconds in the 2nd quarter, then was back out there. I was infinately impressed, and am totally looking forward to Snoball tonight!!!! Oh, and we had some great pictures of the game, soon to be posted. Stay tuned for shots of Lexi, Sara, Joe, Bullseye and a couple great pics of the whole team!

It's been a while since my last post for two reasons. One being that I've been way busy with finals and basketball and other stuff that I plum forgot, and the other being that I know that no one actually looks at my site :-).

Two New Epiphany's:

1.  I realized that I really miss playing basketball far more than I anticipated. Every time I watch a game all I want to do is JUMP IN!!! But I think I would be content if some of the girls on the team would just shoot hoops with me. I like playing basketball, I just kinda want to goof off with people I like on the court, it's fun stuff.

2.  Lexi Bell is the most creative person I know...She asked me to the Snoball yesterday (which overall was an AWESOME day!! I'll elaborate shortly) and it was in a really cool way, most of you already know how so I wont waste space here.

Jan. 27 was a great day because I got to announce the starting lineups for the bball game and I got asked to the snowball which I'm pumped for, and on top of that Camas beat Mark Morris, who was previously undefeated in league. Niiiice.

That is all for now. I have run 2x at full speed because that's how many days my foot hasn't hurt me recently. Going for #3 today. Finals are making it difficult to work out here.

Chao for now...and remember SP is the way to be.

It snowed on monday night (late night, even though it was supposed to snow at 9 pm). I scored the CHS boys bball game against Australia and our team got killed. But I guess that's okay, I still made $20 for my efforts, since SUMO didn't show until the 2nd quarter. We were out of school today and yesterday, perhaps tomarrow as well since, as Tom put it: Our entire neighborhood is like a giant ice rink, which is how it is at my house as well.

As for the running, I've been riding the bike like crazy and icing my foot tons since sunday, and today I'm up to about 80%. I think I could even run if I wanted, but I wont. There's other good news...tomarrow I weighed in after my workout at 145. The last time i weighed that much was 7-11-03 according to my runninglog. I attribute this to all the weights I've been lifting the past three days. Today after riding I read an astonishing 148! I hope this trend continues becuaes I like the way it's going : )

New Years with all my homies was way fun. We went to J-Lo's house and did fun stuff. We danced alot. Then the fella's went to Eric's to spend the night, and we ended up being stranded there, so in the morning we walked down to Tom's house to get his eye drops then to J-Lo's to help clean up...now for the running:

5 a.m. Sunday morning. I had some sort of dream that caused me to toss and turn while I was asleep. This resulted in me falling out of bed, and directly on my right ankle. And, yes I sprained it. This was a big blow, I'm afraid this will mess up my training.  Today we went to Grandpa's house to borrow his stationary bike so I may continue my training. So it's all good, as long as I get better soon.

12/26    I've been training for six days now on speed work, so today I decided to conduct a time trial. I went to the track and ran an 800 in my running shoes, and in my running fleece so it wasnt exactly ideal conditions for speed.  I pulled out a 2:19 solo which I'm pretty happy with, believe my splits were 1:09 and 1:10 which is pretty stinkin' good all things considered.  I'm starting to think that I may be able to pull off a Dyestat elite ranking (1:59) or maybe even a nationals qualifying time (1:58).

Indoor track training has begun! (formerly half marathon training)

I trained for four weeks for the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon, then proceded to develope a stress fracture in my right foot, and as soon as that was fixed, I got another one in my left foot.  At which point I thought "screw this, I'm doing indoor track instead!"  So, I took eight days off to help my feet heal, which shot my base to crap, but that's ok.  I am currently in my training for the track season.  Here's what's new:
